If you’ve lost or misplaced your Apple Watch, don’t panic. You can track it down and recover it using the features built into the device.

What features can you use to find your Apple Watch?

find my

When you buy an Apple Watch, it’s paired with your iPhone, allowing you to easily navigate the device through your smartphone.

So, if your Apple Watch is missing, you can find it using your iPhone through a feature called “Find My”.

To set up “Find My” on your iPhone, just go to “Settings” and tap your name at the top. Scroll down to “Find my” and turn on “Find my iPhone”. Next, enable “Enable offline search”, then enable “Send last location”.

By enabling “Find My” on your iPhone, it will automatically enable the same feature on your Apple Watch.

Once the feature is enabled, launch the “Find My” app on your iPhone and tap on “Devices”. Scroll to your Apple Watch in the list that appears and tap it.

The app will display an on-screen map showing the location of your Apple Watch.

If your Apple Watch’s battery is depleted, the “Find My” app cannot show you exactly where the device is, but it will show you where it was the last time it could be located.

Use iCloud

If you don’t have your iPhone with you, you can still view the “Find My” map via iCloud.

According to Apple, all you have to do is go to iCloud and sign in using your Apple ID.

Then click “Find iPhone” and select “Devices”. Scroll down and select your Apple Watch to see the map.

play sound

If you left your Apple Watch somewhere familiar, like your home or office, you can see it on the map and easily retrieve it.

But if you’re where you left your device but still can’t find it, you can use “Find My” to make your Apple Watch play a sound, according to HowtoGeek.

Since the device is small and its speakers are smaller, you need to be close enough to it before you can hear sound. However, you can keep playing the sound until you spot your Apple Watch.

When you click “Play Sound” on iCloud or “Find My” app, not only does it emit a loud chime that helps you locate the device, but it also displays a message on the Apple Watch, and you will also get an email notification that the “Find My” app sound feature has been used.

Lost mode functionality

If you still can’t find your Apple Watch, you can put it in Lost Mode.

According to Apple Insider, Lost Mode lets you send a message that appears on the Watch screen so anyone who finds it knows how to contact you.

To activate this feature, simply go to “Find My” and press “Mark as Lost”. You can also do this on iCloud by clicking “Lost Mode”.

If your Apple Watch doesn’t appear on the map

According to Android Authority, the “Find My” feature is the only way to track or locate a lost or missing Apple Watch.

If the feature is not enabled on your device before it disappears, no other Apple service can find, track, or even report the device for you.

However, you can still protect your personal data by placing your Apple Watch in Lost Mode. When in Lost Mode, the passcode is required before you can turn off “Find My” and pair it with another iPhone or erase your watch data.

You can also change your Apple ID password to prevent anyone from accessing your iCloud information.
