The device, called ExoRehab X, uses onboard sensors to measure performance.
SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA, USA, June 20, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — HoustonBionics is pleased to announce the launch of its most revolutionary device yet – the ExoRehab X, a wearable exercise device for arms designed for home stroke recovery.
The well-known HoustonBionics brand is focused on the fast-growing home stroke therapy market. The company’s initial target population, stroke survivors, is the largest group among people with neurological disorders. Stroke is the leading cause of disability in adults, with more than seven million survivors in the United States and more than eight hundred thousand new cases each year.
“The recovery process for stroke survivors is often lengthy and takes months or even years,” says Utku Pehlivan, CEO and co-founder of HoustonBionics. “The neural system requires constant and intensive stimulation to achieve the desired result. This means that survivors need Olympic-level motivation to regain their freedom in their daily activities.
HoustonBionics’ first product, ExoRehab X, is designed to increase motivation through video game-like visual feedback and provide objective performance data. “Notable progress can take too long and, unfortunately, stroke survivors can lose motivation,” adds Utku. “However, they could progress without realizing it. Alternatively, ExoRehab X uses its on-board sensors to capture and report even the slightest improvement in the user to help them stay motivated and on track to recover.
ExoRehab X, an FDA-listed Class I device, is now available for pre-orders and devices will begin shipping in the fall of 2022. All devices are custom-made and early customers placing pre-orders will be given priority on the delivery.
