Muscat: The smart environment device project using the Internet of Things (IoT) was initiated by the National Energy Center to track harmful and toxic gases in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Oman News Agency (ONA) revealed that the National Energy Center launched the smart environment device project as part of Oman Sustainability Week.
The inauguration ceremony was patronized by His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shaithani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Information Technology for Communications, under the cooperation protocol between the Center National Energy and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. developing smart city technologies by adopting and applying modern technologies and Internet of Things solutions.
The initiation, installation and operation of this project aims to provide a technical platform for monitoring the surrounding atmosphere in Muscat Knowledge Oasis, Duqm Special Economic Zone and Madinat Al Irfan.
This device offers the ability to track harmful and toxic gases that create an uncomfortable environment, through instantaneous readings captured by the device’s sensors and measurement of wind speed and direction. The device also provides real-time air quality index insights and helps to maintain room air cleanliness within required standards.
