The Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Board is preparing to roll out new software this spring.

According to their annual report, “Dude Solutions” or Smart Gov will streamline permit processing and inspections, which should improve the efficiency of the process for staff and the public.

The report said the rollout was delayed by eight months due to high staff turnover in the department. The hope is that the software will be operational in May or before.

The software will have a citizen portal allowing the public to submit requests, track permit status and review inspection results in real time.

Over the coming year, the JPB expects a comprehensive Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance update as well as the start of the 18-month custom airport zoning process with Bemidji Regional Airport.
