New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….

The original story (published August 12, 2022) follows:

Many NFL fans have encountered issues with the app. The most common ones reported are related to unplayed games, poor performance, and the app not recognizing the NFL+ subscription.

NFL app not playing or playing incorrect games

Recent reports suggest that many NFL app users are unable to watch games (1,2,3,4,5).

Once they open the app and try to watch an NFL game, they either get redirected to a different game or the stream doesn’t start at all.

It doesn’t seem limited to any particular match as users have tried streaming several different matches but had the same issue.

Not a good first night. I missed the whole first half now having problems with the replay. Half ass app but worked fine taking my money

@NFLPlusGO @NFLplusofficial your app is malfunctioning, I want to watch the Ravens and Titans but it keeps sending me back to the Patriots and Giants.

NFL+ subscription is not recognized

Another problem seems to be that the NFL+ subscription is not recognized on the NFL app (1,2,3,4,5).

Whenever a user taps on a match to watch it, they get an error message that you need a TV provider account to watch the matches.

This essentially defeats the purpose of paying for the NFL+ subscription, as users can then just watch the game directly through the TV.

Tried every game for NFL+ to work. I keep getting an error saying we need a TV provider. This is not what was advertised. Your tech support team seems to have checked after I sent the request. Your answer is embarrassing.

Why @NFL plus won’t let me watch games even with a subscription. Like what was the point of subscribing if I needed to link my TV provider anyway. trash app

Slow streaming and app performance

Other users report an issue where the stream buffers too long or is just slow in general (1,2,3,4,5).

The overall performance of the NFL app has left many users disappointed with the constant issues such as crashing, not opening, switching between games, and numerous long pauses with nothing but the pitch playing in the background.

Hey @nfl, what’s up with your app broadcast? So many really long pauses with absolutely nothing but the field in the background.

For a sport so popular in the United States, the NFL needs to make significant improvements to its application. In its current state, fans aren’t getting the best experience.

Potential workaround

There is no official acknowledgment yet for any of these issues from the NFL team. In the meantime, there is a potential workaround for NFL+ subscribers on the web version.
