Radian IoT, Inc., innovator in data collection and aggregation, announced its latest reporting device and SaaS platform that turns boats, trailers, RVs and powersports assets into data generators that deliver insights usable. Operational data (supply chain, inventory management, and logistics) and experiential data (how and why things are happening at the consumer level) are delivered daily to drive improvements and accelerate decision-making across the company.
“Radian was born from decades of boat building experience and dealership development in pursuit of exciting boat owners,” said Scott Crutchfield, Founder and President of Radian and former owner of MasterCraft Boats. “This industry has always been data-strapped, so we decided to go beyond traditional uses of GPS tracking technology and report data directly from the assets themselves while they are in supply chain. To do this, we needed someone like Joe Czarnecky, a pioneer in data collection and processing for some of the largest retailers in the country. Joe is a boating and sports enthusiast like me, so he understands, but Joe brings an entirely different skill set to the table, data management. I know what information manufacturers, dealers and customers want and Joe knows how to deliver it.”
“While the end-user benefits of GPS monitoring solutions are well established, these devices all need to be connected to the boat’s battery before they can perform very simple tasks,” said Joe Czarnecky, CEO of Radian. “This is a major shortcoming of existing solutions because a lot of data is lost between the time of manufacture and customer handover and when the asset’s battery is disconnected during the off-season. With our solution, we can provide the manufacturer and dealer with a wealth of operational and experiential data that will transform the industry. Plus, we can do it by combining devices, cloud software, and cellular services into one solution for far less time and money than building your own platform.
Radian leverages real-time asset and sensor data to improve management solutions for industries committed to a two-step distribution model. Manufacturers, dealers, marina operators, yacht clubs and financial institutions can all customize and prioritize their unique access to aggregated data. Each entity can select the most relevant data for its business. By overlaying the timestamped movement of each unit with hundreds of product-related attributes, Radian’s platform provides a better understanding of what is selling, how fast and why.
Manufacturers can use Radian to capture actual retail delivery dates, automatically record consumer warranties, and monitor boat health. Dealers can use the platform to identify all of their storage units on a map, grouped by geolocation, including preparation facilities, identify locations of units in transit, and schedule consumer maintenance. For marina operators, Radian allows managers to determine the exact locations of boats and trailers stored in the yard or in rack storage and enables rental fleets and yacht clubs to monitor their vessels for a better customer experience. Financiers and insurers can use Radian to verify the location of assets and recover missing assets faster. Once the vessel or asset is delivered to the consumer, the new owner can choose to subscribe to Radian’s end user platform. With no device to purchase, those who sign up only pay an annual subscription to the platform, making Radian the most affordable consumer monitoring solution available on the market.
Easy to install, as no wiring is required until delivery to the consumer, the Radian M2 device measures only 3.7 x 5.5 inches and is less than one inch thick. Based on proven technology that has already been deployed in over 10 million IoT devices in North America, the Radian M2 weighs just half a pound, (IP67) and will report up to five years of its own power under normal planned use. The tamper-proof box contains a Qualcomm 4G LTE Cat 1 cellular modem with eSIM that supports international reporting. It recognizes GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and Beidou constellations. It has Nordic Bluetooth connectivity, as well as an internal date and time clock, accelerometer, ambient temperature and battery voltage sensors. Exterior motion, door, bilge pump and water level sensors are sold separately and can be connected to the input ports.
Radian’s web-based user interface is designed with easy-to-search analytics and a dynamic rules-based alert engine with user-friendly pre-programmed and custom alerts. With multi-channel notifications, asset managers can receive notifications via email, SMS, web and mobile app. It has a fully customizable e-commerce integration, supporting order management, billing, subscription management, and payment processing systems. Consumers can download the Radian IQ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play for Android users.
