Valve released the Steam mobile app update on android and iOS, revamped with improvements to its framework and UI design. The new and improved app also includes new features, including the ability to remotely download Steam games from your phone and login with a QR code.

Introducing the updated Steam Mobile app

Remote game downloading is the most notable feature of the revamped Steam mobile app, and it works similarly to the PlayStation app. You can download games straight to your PC so they’re ready to play when you get home. An added bonus to this feature is that the Steam app now shows all games in your library.

The QR code option helps you login to Steam immediately instead of manually with your username and password. It uses two-factor authentication. A confirmation page will appear in the app after you scan the code with your phone, giving you details like a map and the geolocation of the device you’re using Steam on to verify your identity and make sure only you are approving your own connection attempt. And if your password somehow gets leaked and someone tries to log into your Steam account, you can deny that attempt.

Even if you still want to log into Steam the old fashioned way, the Steam app will still ask you if you want to accept or decline the login attempt. Valve said it was working to bring QR code login to the steam bridge but did not give a timeline to incorporate this.
