You can now download the release candidate (RC) of watchOS 9 on your Apple Watch if you are a developer or a beta tester.
Developers and public beta testers can now download and install the new RC version of watchOS 9 on Apple Watch
The RC version of watchOS 9 is now available for download. If you’ve been testing the beta for a long time, today is a huge treat for you.
To download and install the watchOS 9 RC version, you need an iPhone that is already running iOS 16, but you already knew that. The update is available live now and you just need to follow these steps to get the update immediately:
- Place your Apple Watch on its magnetic charger.
- Make sure your Apple Watch is charging past the 50% mark.
- On your iPhone, launch the Watch app.
- Go to General > Software Update.
- Tap Download and Install when watchOS 9 RC appears.
Keep in mind that watchOS updates take an incredibly long time to download and install. I will recommend installing everything right before you go to bed so that you wake up with a smooth install of watchOS 9 RC the next morning.
If you use your Apple Watch a lot to track your workouts, this update is huge for you. Not only does it include new workouts for tracking, but adds new metrics when tracking workouts such as “power”.
You also get medication reminders as part of watchOS 9, which is an absolutely wonderful feature. If you have a knack for forgetting things you shouldn’t forget due to your busy routine, medication reminders will at least ensure you don’t miss the things most important to you – your health.
The full and final version of the watchOS 9 update will be available for everyone next week – September 12. Just wait a few days to download it. Remember that you need an Apple Watch Series 4 or higher to install it. Apple is no longer supporting Series 3 this year.
